About this game:
I originally started this project back in 2020 as I was attending college. After I was done with another project that same year, I immediately started planning out this game and I first envisioned it as a small and basic RPG game about a knight who has to rescue a princess from an evil wizard, fight monsters, visit towns, gain experience points to level up, etc. Pretty basic and generic RPG stuff, but this was meant to be my first stab at the genre, and at the time, I was very proud with how it was turning out.
Story:
In a far away land, there exists a kingdom called Damonia. In it, lives a king known an King Dederic, and his beautiful daughter, Princess Amelia. She is desperate into wanting to marry a special someone, so when the news broke on the other side of the land, an evil wizard named Karlov hears about the princess wanting to get married. Karlov plans to capture the princess, and bring her back to his lair so he ends up marrying her. It is now up to Knight Richard to travel across the land to Karlov's lair, and rescue the princess.
Throughout the game, you will fight all kinds of monsters in a turn based RPG battle system. Defeat enemies, level up your stats, buy items and equipment, everything you need to progress further to reach Karlov's lair.
Why I canceled it:
It was just too much for me. As I've said, I was gonna make this into a smaller RPG game, but as I kept developing it, I kept adding in way too much that I was just not prepared for, and I didn't really have the whole game planned out (i.e. areas, enemies, items, etc.), and the artstyle was just so inconsistent. Not to mention, I pretty much did everything in one frame in Clickteam Fusion which was not really the best method of doing this as it made things very messy, and it would slow down the program, which could've given me a headache if I kept going.
Eventually, I lost interest in the project, and went on to develop other projects. I MIGHT re-visit this idea in the future, but I'm not sure when that'll happen. I guess I just wasn't ready to make RPG at such a big scale. So for now, all I have is a beta build of the game which can be played for sure.
